OUR TOYS
The Atwell Toy Library provides a vast array of well-made toys that have been designed to support your child’s skills development and imagination.
Young children’s play allows them to explore, identify, negotiate, take risks and create meaning. The intellectual and cognitive benefits of playing have been well documented. Children who engage in quality play experiences are more likely to have well-developed memory skills, language development, and are able to regulate their behaviour, leading to enhanced school adjustment and academic learning.

BORROWING INFORMATION
BORROWING TIMES
The toy library is open every Saturday (excluding public holidays) from 9:30am to 10:30am. No toys will be loaned out for people arriving after 10.20am, only returning toys will be accepted, as volunteers will be busy closing up.
BORROWING LIMITS
Each fortnight your family can borrow a total of 4 items. It may be possible to request an additional toy during quiet periods, however availability will be at the discretion of the volunteer incharge.
BORROWING CYCLE
Toys are borrowed for 1 to 2 weeks at a time from the moment you register and your membership payment has been processed. You may extend/renew your toys on loan though the online member's portal. You may renew your loan to a maximum of 3 times.
OVERDUE ITEMS
Late return of toys does not currently incur a fine, however this may change in the future. If you are unable to return your toys on loan, email atwelltoylibrary@hotmail.com or extend/renew your loan though the online member's portal.
TOY HYGIENE
In the interest of our children and the presentation of our toys, members are requested to clean toys before returning to the library. Toys must be scrubbed and left to dry before returning.
It is suggested that baby toys are cleaned both prior to use and return with a mild disinfectant as an additional hygiene precaution. Please note that dirty toys will not be accepted and must be checked out again for cleaning.
A cleaning table and products are provided at the library for last minute cleaning by the member returning the item.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Toys borrowed must be used in accordance of the purpose for which they are intended and by children of an appropriate age and level of understanding with appropriate supervision. Please note that some toys have small parts and are not suitable for children under three years of age. Plastic bags can be dangerous. To avoid suffocation please keep plastic bags away from babies and small children
LOST/DAMAGED ITEMS
When you borrow toys, it is essential that you check you have all the pieces of the toy. If you find a piece missing after returning a toy, email atwelltoylibrary@hotmail.com to inform us. In this case, you will not be charged for missing pieces.
If you return a toy with a piece/s missing, you will be encouraged to borrow it again for another fortnight so that you can find the missing piece and reunite
it with the toy. This is the best outcome for everyone.
If you are unable to find the missing item, or an item has been damaged beyond repair, we may request that you replace the item, or pay for the cost or replacement. This decision will be made by the volunteer in charge on the day.
